Jay Peak Resort, Vermont, has wrapped up a day that’s proved nothing short of epic, with around a foot of snow falling.
In a recent Instagram post, the resort provided an update on snowfall totals, teasing the prospect of even more powder by Saturday.

“8-12 [inches] has landed so far with constant free refills,” Jay Peak wrote. “We were able to start up 6/9 lifts with all Lower Mountain lifts plus The Jet.”
And the clincher? Jay Peak expects another 18 to 20 inches to fall before the storm concludes.
The resort’s prediction may or may not pan out—the weather’s fickle like that—but this much remains true: the getting’s going to be good at Jay Peak tomorrow.
Other resorts in the state also made out like bandits. Sugarbush saw at least 14 inches of snow, writing in its snow report that it was “a free refills kind of day.”
The storm, of course, wasn’t without its drawbacks. Due to high winds, Jay Peak couldn’t open all its lifts, although the resort anticipates mellower conditions and expanded terrain offerings on Friday.
At least 30,000 utility customers throughout Vermont lost power as snow and winds battered the state. Fallen trees have also proved problematic. WCAX 3 reports that some outages could continue into the weekend.
I’m sure Jay Peak locals haven’t been bothered too much by the inconvenience. Some things, like fresh snow, are worth the wild weather.
