In Indianapolis’ 7-4 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers on Wednesday, Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Paul Skenes had his remarkable scoreless inning streak snapped at 14.1.
In the bottom of the second, the right-hander gave up an RBI single to Omaha’s Nate Eaton.
Until giving up the run, Skenes — the top pick in the 2023 MLB Draft — had been stellar in Triple-A, posting a 0.00 ERA with 27 strikeouts in 12.2 innings.
In his fifth start, Skenes still had a solid outing, going 4 1/3 innings, giving up one earned run on five hits and striking out seven.
