2023 CSC Academic All-District At-Large recipients
CHICAGO – The University of Chicago women’s lacrosse team placed five players on the 2023 Academic All-District At-Large Team, as selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Jane Chen helped lead the attack for the No. 6-ranked scoring offense in the nation – the Maroons averaged 17.4 goals per game. The sophomore tied a school record with 43 assists while adding nine goals, 16 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. She currently ranks second in school history with 85 career assists. Chen was named First Team All-CCIW in early May.
Lulu Hardy was the top scorer for the potent UChicago offense. The junior attacker set a new school record with 69 goals, dished out 18 assists, snagged 30 ground balls and caused 15 turnovers. In the process, Hardy became the program’s all-time goals leader (157). Her season accolades include First Team All-Region, CCIW Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-CCIW.
Rachel Keefe anchored the defense from her goalkeeper position. The sophomore set a new school record with 120 saves and posted a 15-3 season record. Currently, she ranks fourth in NCAA Division III in save percentage (.550) and fifth in goals against average (6.67). Keefe was named Third Team All-American this week to add to her awards haul of First Team All-Region, CCIW Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-CCIW.
Hailey Klinger provided shutdown defense for a unit that ranks third in the nation in scoring defense and ninth in caused turnovers. The senior tallied 22 caused turnovers and a team-best 44 ground balls. Klinger was picked First Team All-Region and First Team All-CCIW.
Katie Large contributed in all aspects in her midfielder role. She finished second on the team in points (53) and assists (24) while scoring 29 goals. The senior compiled 33 draw controls, 14 ground balls and eight caused turnovers as well. Large was a First Team All-Region and First Team All-CCIW honoree.
Nominees for CSC Academic All-America must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution.
