One week into June, and Luis Arraez is back hitting above .400.
The 2022 AL batting champion has not missed a beat since coming over to the senior circuit. In fact, he’s having his best season as a hitter. As of Wednesday, the 26-year-old all-star is hitting .401, the ninth-highest through a player’s first 62 games since 1941. It’s not just empty calories either, as the Marlins have won five in a row and are currently sitting in the second NL Wild Card spot. But given that a player hasn’t finished a season hitting above .400 since the early stages of World War II, Arraez’s chances of pulling off the feat are slim. But Arraez has established himself as one of the best pure hitters in baseball, and his historic pursuit is one worth following over the summer.
Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day. Aside from chasing the hallowed .400 mark, Arraez is looking to win the batting title in each league in consecutive seasons. So with that in mind, how many NL batting champions since the 1993 season can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
