After spending five seasons away from Pittsburgh, 2013 NL MVP Andrew McCutchen reunited with the Buccos in 2023. Things went well enough that he and the team decided to run it back for at least one more season. On Tuesday, news broke that the 37-year-old DH/OF and the Pirates agreed to a one-year, $5 million deal for the upcoming 2024 season. McCutchen’s initial exit from the team coincided with the franchise’s rebuilding efforts, which the Pirates are still trying to pull themselves out of, but the team showed signs of life in 2023, winning 76 games while also seeing the MLB debuts of former high draft picks Henry Davis and Nick Gonzales. General manager Ben Cherington is hoping that with McCutchen on the roster for another season, the team might make an unlikely postseason push, something it hasn’t been able to do in over a decade.
Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day. Cutch won the NL MVP during the 2013 season. So with that in mind, how many of the National League MVPs can you name in six minutes?
Good luck!
