It’s rare for a prodigious talent like Juan Soto to be traded so early into his MLB career, but that’s what happened in 2022. Sixteen months later, it looks as if he’ll soon be on the move once again. Soto’s name has come up in trade talks ever since the disappointing San Diego Padres fell out of playoff contention during the 2023 season, and with the Winter Meetings now in full effect, the 25-year-old phenom may soon have a new home. The New York Yankees are reportedly the most aggressive suitor, even after acquiring another outfielder in a rare trade with the division-rival Boston Red Sox. Even for a rental, Soto won’t come cheap, but you’d have to imagine the Yanks would intend to sign him to a long-term extension should they acquire his services this offseason. Stay tuned.
Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day. Soto has many talents, but his best is his ability to draw walks and get on base, leading all of MLB in on-base percentage twice when he was still a member of the Washington Nationals. So with that in mind, how many of the MLB leaders in on-base percentage since 2000 can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
