Bob MacIntyre, Grant Forrest, Ewen Ferguson, and Connor Syme stand as Scotland’s top golfers. The 2023 season brought various highs and lows for them. Despite the mix of success, all four have built impressive careers with notable achievements. Speaking to Scotsman in an interview, they shared their favrorite moments from 2023. For Bob MacIntyre, the Genesis Scottish Open was undoubtedly his favorite event.
“The Genesis Scottish Open. I lived a childhood dream (by getting himself in the mix in the final round). I didn’t quite get the trophy (being pipped by Rory McIlroy’s sensational birdie-birdie finish at The Renaissance Club), but it was still a dream.”- MacIntyre said!
Grant Forrest is impressed with the Irish Open, especially because of the fans who are passionate about golf and know how to create a great atmosphere.
“The Irish Open has always been good to me and, after the Scottish Open, it probably has the best crowds. It’s not just the numbers. It’s a very golfing crowd as well. They are there for the golf and not just a day out.”
Ewen Ferguson and Connor Syme on favorite events
Ewen Ferguson couldn’t help but mention the Genesis Scottish Open. Playing an event in your own country is certainly what many golfers dream about when they start their careers.
“The Genesis Scottish Open because I just love playing in Scotland and the grind of trying to do well on home soil. It’s such a big event in my own country and I love feeling that I’m a big deal in my own country when I play in it.”
Connor Syme shared the opinion with his compatriots but also made the fans laugh.
“I love the Genesis Scottish Open and being our home Open it is so special. But the reward for getting to the DP World Tour Championship is special and there’s no cut as well (laughing). That’s a nice bonus at the end of the year.”
