The Reds and left-hander Justin Wilson are in agreement on a major league deal, per Robert Murray of FanSided. It has previously been noted by Gordon Wittenmyer of the Cincinnati Enquirer that Wilson was in the clubhouse this morning. Wittenmyer added that another lefty, Alex Young, has had a setback with his back injury. Manager David Bell says that Young will start the season on the injured list. No corresponding move will be required for Wilson since the Reds already had an opening on their 40-man roster.
Wilson, 36, signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers about a month ago. He pitched fairly well in the spring, striking out nine hitters in four official innings, but he seemed blocked from cracking a stacked Dodger bullpen. He opted out of that deal earlier this week.
More to come.
