Nick Kyrgios says Jannik Sinner joined “a pretty good company” in becoming the first player since the Australian in 2017 to clinch two wins over Novak Djokovic in two weeks. After beating Djokovic in the group stage at the ATP Finals, Sinner also defeated the Serb in their Davis Cup match 6-2 2-6 7-5.
In 2017, Kyrgios beat Djokovic in Acapulco. In his next tournament, Kyrgios also defeated Djokovic at the Indian Wells Masters. It took six years before someone again beat Djokovic twice in as many weeks. Responding to the stat, Kyrgios wrote on X: “Pretty good company I must say.”

Sinner achieves an impressive Kyrgios feat in beating Djokovic
Sinner made a fast start to the match, claiming back-to-back breaks in the third and fifth game en route to very routinely winning the first set.
After losing the second set, Djokovic bounced back in the second set with breaks in the fourth and eighth games to win the set and force a decider. After winning the second set, Djokovic also had chances to claim an early third-set break but he failed to convert a break point in the second and eighth games.
In the 10th game – when Sinner was serving to stay in the match – Djokovic missed out on three consecutive match points. After saving three match points, Sinner claimed the first break of the third set in the 11th game for a 6-5 lead.
In the following game, Sinner served out for the match. “It was a roller coaster. I was starting off really well. Second set he played much better than me. Third set I tried to serve really well, and also on match points down I served well.
Happy to still be in the competition. We were one point away from being out,” Sinner said. Sinner now has two wins and four losses against Djokovic.
