Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy has exited the Dodgers’ Cactus League game on Wednesday early.
Muncy was hit by a pitch on the hand in the first inning, but was able to stay in to run the bases and field.
However, when Muncy’s spot in the lineup came up in the top of the fourth inning, Austin Gauthier pinch-hit for him. The SportsNet LA broadcast showed Muncy in the dugout looking at his hand, which the team wrapped in the top of the second inning — but it was unwrapped now that he’s exiting the game.
We will continue to provide updates when we know more on Muncy, but for now, we know the team elected to not have him take a second at-bat in Wednesday’s game.
Of course, it’s spring training, so it makes sense to proceed with caution with any sort of injury.
