This article summarizes the most impressive stats, performances, and records of Mathieu van der Poel from his road, cyclocross, and mountain biking career. I created them based on several sources and also my own calculations. These stats are updated once a year at the end of the cycling season.

The following statistics are based on Mathieu van der Poel’s professional road cycling career, which started in 2014.
Mathieu van der Poel Victories and Win Rates
During his career, Mathieu van der Poel has won 46 races from 251 race days.1 He has won 19 one-day races, of which 4 monuments, 5 GCs, and 22 stages. He has never won a time trial. His win rate is an incredible 18.3%!
His top 10 rate is even more impressive. He finished in the top 10 in 45.9% of races (or stages) he completed2.
In 2023, Mathieu van der Poel won 6 one-day races, of which 2 monuments. His win rate was 13%. He won every 7th race3 he entered. He finished 21.7% on the podium and 30.4% in the top 10!
Mathieu van der Poel won 4 monuments – 2× Ronde van Vlaanderen (2020, 2022), Paris–Roubaix (2023), and Milan–San Remo (2023).
Mathieu van der Poel won the 2020 and 2022 Tour of Flanders with a BMI of about 22.2, which is ~0.4 lower than the Tour of Flanders winners’ BMI average. He also has 4 consecutive Tour of Flanders podium finishes (between 2020 and 2023).
Mathieu van der Poel also holds the record for finishing Paris-Roubaix with the highest average speed ever (2023). He averaged 46.84 km/h (29.11 mph).
Mathieu van der Poel had only 9 DNFs and 4 DNSs in his WT career. He finished all the races he started in 2014, 2016, and 2023.

Mathieu loves racing in Belgium. He participated in 29 different races here. His next-most visited countries for racing are France (15) and Italy (11).

The following watt performances are based on MVDP’s Strava. He is one of the few pros who kept his data visible to everyone. Unfortunately, he stopped publishing them in 2023.
Mathieu van der Poel did 5.17 W/kg (389 W normalized power) for 4:45:53 when winning Strade Bianche in 2021. He peaked at 407 W for 20 minutes, 740 W for 1 minute, 1121 W for 15 seconds, and 1297 W for 5 seconds in the last hour of this almost 5-hour race!
Mathieu van der Poel did 4.72 W/kg (354 W normalized power) for 6:34:43 when winning Ronde van Vlaanderen in 2022. He peaked at 382 W for one hour, 502 W for 5 minutes, 727 W for 1 minute, 1137 W for 15 seconds, and 1383 W for 5 seconds.
Mathieu van der Poel did 4.97 W/kg (373 W normalized power) for 4:13:34 when winning Dwars Door Vlaanderen in 2022. He peaked at 369 W for one hour, 475 W for 5 minutes, 721 W for 1 minute, 1014 W for 15 seconds, and 1293 W for 5 seconds.

Professional CX Victories
During his professional CX career, Mathieu van der Poel has won 161 races from 220 race days. That’s a win rate of an incredible 73.2%! His podium rate is 88.2%, and his top 10 rate is 94.5%!
His 2018/19 season was the most successful. He won 32 of 33 races he entered (97% win rate).
When Mathieu starts a CX race, he is hardly ever outside the top 10. Furthermore, he didn’t finish only 3 CX races in his career. He has a race completion rate of 98.64%.
Mathieu van der Poel is 6 times CX World Champion and 6 times CX National Champion. He won the World Cup 2 times, European Championships 3 times, and Superprestige 4 times.
Mathieu van der Poel shares the record for the most wins in a single CX season (32) with Erik De Vlaeminck and Roland Liboton.
Mathieu van der Poel Mountain Biking Statistics
The following statistics are based on Mathieu van der Poel’s professional mountain biking career since 2016.
Mathieu van der Poel has won 19 XCO races from 48 races. That’s a win rate of 39.6%. His podium rate is 62.5%.
MVDP has never won the UCI XCO World Championships or the World Cup. He finished 3rd in the Worlds once and 2nd in the World Cup twice. However, he won the European XC Championships and the National XC Championships once.
Mathieu van der Poel’s versatility is underlined by the following fact. He is the first rider ever to win medals in the Cyclocross World Championships, Mountain Bike World Championships, Gravel World Championships, and Road World Championships.
