Sugarloaf Mountain, ME, jumped on the Valentine’s Day bandwagon to release their own series of loveably punny quotes for your loved ones (and ski buddies).
Whoever was behind these creative cards prompted Sugarloafers to “Send to your Sugarloaf crush 💕 Happy Valentines Day!”

The mountain, known for its above-treeline-skiing and vast sidecountry offerings, put their social media team to good work for this series.
Some of these work in general as long as you and/or your partner/crush is a skier, and some only work if you are a die-hard Loafer.
The first, and perhaps the most clever, card, reads: “I’m Tote-ally in love with you.” (A reference to Tote Road, a popular and heavily used two-part trail in the middle of the mountain servicing intermediate terrain and branching off to a terrain park towards the bottom.)
The second, which is more universally applicable, reads, “I think you’re an X-Cutie.” This one took a second to piece together, but I believe it’s referring to cross cuts, or the long traverses at the bottom of the mountain leading to condos and housing after the lifts.
“Wanna get bubbleCuffed?” is another clever play on words, because this one has two additional meanings besides the pickup line. Bubblecuffers is Sugarloaf’s youth ski group program, but Bubblecuffer is also a difficult trail towards the top of the mountain. It tends to get mogul-ed up quickly, adding to its leg-burning reputation.
You can find Bubblecuffer between Gondola Line and White Nitro (one of the hardest, or at least extremely steep and often icy, trails at Sugarloaf).
Officials at the Loaf also offered the pickup line, “whenever we’re together, it’s Pure Heat.” Come on, that one’s a gimme.
My personal favorite is “If you like glades, we’re probably in the same dating Brackett.” Not just because Brackett Basin is such a great area of the mountain (yes, Maine resorts have cliffs you can huck, ahem Palisades Tahoe pros), but because liking glades is a must.
“My heart goes Haywire for you” is their final trail-related card, and the last, but certainly not least, is the simple “I loaf you.”
I thought of a couple more to add to the list:
“I’m breathless, and not because of the altitude.”
“Ain’t no haul back, girl!”
“Will you be my King… Pine?”
It’s the thought that counts.
