West Indies batter Jermaine Blackwood talked about his preparations for the upcoming Test series against India. He said that he’s a lot more confident than in earlier times and is in a different space because he has worked very hard.
West Indies is all set to host India for the two-Test series in July. The first game will be played from 12th July whereas the second match is slated to take place from 20th July. The Test series will kick-start the new edition of the ICC World Test Championship for both teams.

Jermaine Blackwood, who has been a key part of the West Indies Test team, is likely to be part of both games and would be hoping to replicate his 2015 and 2020 Test seasons, where he scored 616 runs in 10 games and was in the Cricinfo Test team of the year respectively.

Jermaine Blackwood is confident that he can score big runs in the series because he has put in a lot of hard work. He pointed out that he didn’t get enough runs against India last time in the Caribbean but this time he is looking to change things. As quoted by Jamaica Gleaner, he said:

“I am pretty confident now, but the last time I played against India I didn’t score the runs that I wanted. This time around I am in a different space because I have been putting in a lot of work and hopefully, I can score big runs in this series.”

IND vs WI: “We have to put up a good fight,” says Jermaine Blackwood
Jermaine Blackwood further went on to admit that India are one of the top teams. But they are up for the challenge and are confident that they can put up a good fight. He elaborated:
“For the past two years we have been playing some good cricket and this year, we want to take it up a notch. India is one of the top teams in the world, but we have to put up a good fight and we have players who can do that.”
The last time India and West Indies clashed in a two-match series against each other in the Caribbean, it saw the visitors thumping the hosts by a massive margin in both games and completing the 2-0 whitewash.
