New York Mets star Francisco Lindor is off to a pretty miserable start to the 2024 season.
He entered Friday’s game against the Kansas City Royals hitting just .098 with a .380 OPS through his first 12 games. Those are pretty bad numbers and comparable to what National League pitchers used to do before the designated hitter was added to the league a few years ago.
Rather than boo him in his first plate appearance, Mets fans attempted to take a page out of the Philadelphia Phillies playbook and give him a nice round of applause and a standing ovation. Granted, it was a pretty small gathering at Citi Field, but the point remains the same. He got a louder than normal ovation.
