It has been a wild ride throughout the regular season for the Dodgers. They have overcome the early season struggles and pushed through everything that has come their way.
LA has overcome tons of adversity this year, but it’s something that has made them stronger.
This team has been grinding all year long, and that hasn’t stopped even to this day. No matter what the score is, or what point it is in a game, LA has shown that they can find a way to come back.
On Tuesday, they proved just that, coming back from down 2-0 to beat the Tigers 3-2 on a walk-off RBI single in the 9th inning with two outs. It was an incredible display of situational hitting, which has been one of the more impressive parts of this team.
Manager Dave Roberts spoke about this and praised his club for how they approach everything.
“It’s been huge,” Roberts said of the Dodgers’ MLB-leading total of two-out RBIs. “It’s just the value of getting a hit. It’s not about exit velocity. It’s not about launch angle. It’s about putting the barrel on the baseball and hitting outfield grass and driving in a run. Our guys top to bottom really understand that. We all like slug but that comes with a cost too at times with the swing and miss and things like that.”
Per The OC Register
LA doesn’t just rely on hitting home runs like they have in the past. But instead, they use the home run as an extra option. They have shown that they can play small ball, which is something that is needed come postseason time.
They may have lost some talent from the past rosters, but this team is gritty. It is full of guys with a chip on their shoulder, and something to prove, which often leads to positive results on the field.
It always seems like when they need a big hit, someone is there to make it. While they do have their two-star players, everyone has contributed to the success of this team.
Each player on the roster plays a role, and they have been extremely team-oriented all year long. They truly play for each other without ego, and that is a special group of players to have.
