Every player goes through slumps during a season, it’s just part of the game. However, for Dodgers infielder Max Muncy, it seems like sometimes he’s in a perpetual slump that has no light at the end of the tunnel. But then he shows that he still has some pop left in his bat and hits a crucial home run. That’s exactly what happened to Muncy over the last few days as the team took three of four games from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
In Thursday’s win, Muncy stepped up to the plate with the game tied 2-2 in the sixth inning and blasted one directly to center field to give the Dodgers a two-run lead. It was his second home run of the series and hopefully this starts to get the power hitter back on track.

Muncy spoke about what went right for him during the Pittsburgh series. He went 4-14 against the Bucs.
“It just tells me my hands are doing what they’re supposed to do,” Muncy said. “Even though I pull the ball quite often, my approach is always to the center of the field. It’s just my hands don’t always allow that to happen. Even the first at-bat, I hit a line drive to left field. That just tells me that my swing’s doing what it’s supposed to do. If I just keep trusting that, there’s going to be some results coming.”
Per The OC Register
His two home runs against Pittsburgh were the first two that he had hit since early June. Muncy was in a bit of a slump but busted out right in time to help the Dodgers get some needed victories.
He spent a few weeks on the injured list due to a hamstring injury but now is back and ready to roll. It took him a few games to get back into a rhythm but now he is starting to look like the Muncy that we all know and love. He spoke about coming back from the injury and getting back to being himself.
“As long as my work stays good. I’m trusting myself I can get back to the All-Star caliber player that I am.” Max Muncy speaks on the struggles of returning from injury.
Per SNLA
On the year, he is only hitting .195 but does have 20 home runs and 51 runs batted in. His power numbers speak for themselves and it’s a main reason as to why manager Dave Roberts has kept him in the lineup when he’s been healthy.
We can hope that this series is a sign of things to come for both Muncy and the Dodgers. LA finishes off a quick two game series against the Angels this weekend before the All-Star break.
