The Dodgers are expected to recall pitcher Eduardo Salazar from Triple-A Oklahoma City for the first time prior to Tuesday’s game against the Washington Nationals. Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic was first to report the news:
Salazar, 25, made three starts for Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, going 1-0 with a 2.87 earned-run average. He struck out nine batters across 15.2 innings with a 1.28 WHIP.
The right-hander has made eight major league appearances in his career, all last season with the Cincinnati Reds, going 1-0 with an 8.03 ERA. The Dodgers signed Salazar to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training on Nov. 16, 2023.
Last season with the Reds, Salazar flashed a sinker, slider, changeup, and a four-seam fastball that averaged 93.5 mph according to Statcast.
A native of Venezuela, Salazar is not on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster. The team will need to make a corresponding move in order to add him to their active roster.
