Nearly two weeks removed from taking a scary hit to the head, Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames revealed the startling revelation one doctor offered following the freak accident.
“He told me right away, it could of been way, way worse,” Adames said via Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. “He said, ‘You’re lucky you’ve got a really hard head.'”
In Milwaukee’s tilt against the San Francisco Giants on May 26, a screaming line drive off the bat of third baseman Brian Anderson hit Adames in the temple as he stood atop the Brewers’ dugout.
Remarkably, Adames suffered no fractures and was “alert and responsive” after the frightening impact but was kept at the hospital overnight as a precaution.
