The 2023 Formula 1 season hasn’t been exciting for Scuderia Ferrari, quite the opposite. Out of the eight Grand Prix races held so far, the team from Maranello has only achieved one podium finish and currently sits as the fourth force in the championship, behind Red Bull, Mercedes, and Aston Marti ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.
Even Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are starting to feel the effects of the SF-23’s lack of competitiveness and may soon consider looking elsewhere for their future. Especially Carlos Sainz, if the Maranello team continues to postpone contract renewal talks.
“My priority, and my main goal, is to win with Ferrari one day. I think I’ve made that very clear. And that’s why I will give them priority this winter. Otherwise, it will also be time to look around,” said the former McLaren and Renault driver in a recent interview with Autosport, which you can read in full here. It’s a clear message that Italian journalist Leo Turrini wanted to comment on, also referring to Charles Leclerc‘s similar situation. Here are his words as appeared on quotidiano.net.
Leo Turrini’s considerations:
“I read Carlitos’ recent statement. Sainz, that is. He’s absolutely right,” writes Leo Turrini on his official blog in a recent article. He then explains his statement: “It’s unacceptable for the current Ferrari drivers to approach the end of their contracts (end of 2024) without any certainty about the future. I’ve been writing about this for a long time, perhaps too long.”

Finally, the Italian journalist concludes by urging the Maranello team’s management to resolve the situation soon: “What would the friendly parish priest from the French countryside, alias Fred Vasseur, say about confirming Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz by the end of the month?”
