After a one game detour, the Dodgers got back on the winning side of the ledger with a 7-2 victory over the Giants on Thursday night. The game had its fair share of highlights (and lowlights for the Giants), but the moment of the night came before the game and it belonged to Brusdar Graterol’s mom.
Mama Bazooka stole the show with a ceremonial first pitch strike to her son minutes before game time.
Her strike throwing ability had some asking if she was able to join the starting rotation for the playoffs. Jokes, aside, the video quickly went viral online, with a mix of sentimental reception and some memes showing her far superior pitch mechanics compared side by side to ESPN talking head Stephen A. Smith.
Graterol was reunited with his mother for the first time in seven years this week in an emotional scene caught on camera by the Dodgers. In her first time ever seeing her son pitch in person as a big leaguer, Brusdar fired a perfect 1-2-3 inning on Wednesday to continue a run of dominance on the mound.
