NOAA reports that Sunday River could see as much as nine inches of snow before the end of today and tonight—not half bad for a quick powder reset.
The Maine resort has had a strong start to 2024, with 27 inches of snow falling in the past ten days.
Adding to the momentum is a concentrated snowmaking push on White Cap, one of Sunday River’s peaks. “For this evening, the snowmaking team will be hard at work, taking advantage of every second of cold temps,” the resort wrote in its afternoon snow report. “No matter which way you like to ski, it’s shaping up to be an incredible weekend.”

Other resorts in the Northeast have benefitted from the chillier weather pattern. Killington, Vermont, has picked up 34+ inches of snow since the start of this year.
The change in conditions across the Northeast is dramatic—last month, several ski resorts, including Sunday River, were shuttered due to a period of heavy rainfall. Now, winter’s finally delivering on its end of the deal.
