The Aston Martin DBR9 was a product of a successful partnership with Prodrive, known for their work with the Ferrari 550 Maranello.
Under the hood, the 6.0-liter V12 engine got a makeover. It was equipped with a dry sump and positioned as far back as possible, cranking out 625 horsepower.
Most of the body was made from lightweight carbon fiber, except for the aluminum roof. This lightweight design was all about improving aerodynamics.
Underneath, it had a 6-speed Xtrac sequential gearbox at the rear axle, which helped with balance and handling. This setup is often called a transaxle.
Only 32 of these cars were made: 12 for racing and 20 for customers. The Aston Martin DBR9 is a testament to what can happen when collaboration and engineering meet on the race track.
