The Dodger baby boom continues in 2023. Back in April, the Dodgers made headlines as the wives of Mookie Betts, Max Muncy, Evan Phillips, Caleb Ferguson, and Brusdar Graterol all had babies within about two weeks of one another. At the same time, former Dodger Cody Bellinger also welcomed his second child with girlfriend Chase Carter. In July, the wife of Yency Almonte had a son. And about two weeks ago, the wife of Ryan Yarbrough had a baby.
On Thursday, the Dodgers threw a baby shower for the wives of Jason Heyward, David Peralta, Chris Taylor, and Walker Buehler who are all expecting in the coming weeks.
When players are happy at home, they usually perform well on the field. Again, the Dodgers probably will win 100 games.
Constantly, the Dodger players and the management comment about how good the chemistry is. The players like each other. They do things together off the field. In this case, it was the second group baby shower of the season. In July, Max and Kellie Muncy welcomed the team to their home in Texas for their daughter’s second birthday.
It was there that the “the Freddie” celebration was born as well.
This is a group that bonds well together and will look to take that camaraderie into October as the club tries to bring home the first full-season world championship since 1988. On paper, many Dodger teams in the recent past were better, but they didn’t have the desire and the ability to work in cooperation. The leadership of Heyward and Miguel Rojas has worked and let the rookies and the newcomers feel comfortable and valued immediately.
While the Dodgers talk about what kind of diapers and formula to buy, they have developed a comradery that might lead to incredible success.
