Federico Coria threw some massive shade on the Tiriac Open in Bucharest as he pretty much ripped it as an awfully and poorly organized tournament.
Coria, ranked at No. 83 in the world, made his debut at an ATP 250 event this week – beating Benjamin Bonzi before suffering a 5-7 1-6 loss to Francisco Cerundolo in their round-of-16 match on Friday. Throughout the week, the weather has been far from perfect in Bucharest and it has been impacting match scheduling.
EDITOR’S PICKS
After finally getting to play his round-of-16 match against Cerundolo on Friday – a day which is usually reserved for quarterfinals – 32-year-old Coria had some harsh words for the tournament.
“Imagine if the Bucharest tournament happened in South America, there is no light, it didn’t rain yesterday and the day couldn’t be finished…” Coria wrote on X.
Coria throws more shade on Bucharest
In a follow-up post, Coria threw more shade: “I can’t understand how Estoril can leave the calendar and this one stays.”
Otra cosa es inentendible que estoril desaparezca y este torneo quede

For context, recently it was revealed that the Estoril Open would be leaving the ATP Tour calendar starting in 2025.
Meanwhile, it is safe to say that Coria didn’t enjoy much his Bucharest debut and that losing to Cerundolo only made it more unmemorable.
Against Cerundolo, Coria started with a break – and although he quickly lost it – he went up by a break again after breaking Cerundolo in the fifth game for a 3-2 lead. Cerundolo then responded by claiming back-to-back breaks and opening a 5-3 lead but Coria then won the next two games to tie the opener to five games apiece.
After failing to serve out for the first set, Cerundolo kept his focus as served out the 11th game for a 6-5 lead and broke Coria in the following game to take the opener.
In the second set, Cerundolo broke Coria three times to get the job done in two sets.
