The Dodgers put a 6 game win streak on the line after gutting out a tough extra innings victory last night. Dave Roberts was forced to burn through 6 relievers after a short start by Noah Syndergaard so, much like last week, the team will look for an electric performance from their ace, Clayton Kershaw (6-2, 2.36 ERA). The Twins counter with 6’9″ right-hander Bailey Ober (2-0, 1.85 ERA).
For Kershaw, it will be an emotional start following the passing of his mother over the weekend. He’s expected to leave the team and go on bereavement leave in the coming days.
Here’s a look at the lineup Dave Roberts is sending out against the Twins.
The top of the lineup looks a little bit different with Mookie Betts leading off and playing second base. Freddie Freeman is in his usual spot at first base, but no Will Smith tonight. He’ll catch the afternoon game on Wednesday. Austin Barnes catches Kershaw.
Jason Heyward bats third and starts in right and Max Muncy, coming off a nice night, is at third base and batting clean up. J.D. Martinez is the only guy who has faced Ober in the past, going 0-4 against the right-hander.
James Outman is back in the lineup after a day off to reset.

Clayton Kershaw goes for his NL-best 7th win in 9 starts. He’s making only his second ever start against the Twins on Tuesday night. He faced them last year and threw 7 perfect innings before being controversially pulled from the game. Kersh has been dominant at Dodger Stadium this year, allowing just 1 run and 9 hits over 20 innings. He’s yet to walk a batter at home.
Ober makes his first career start against the Dodgers tonight. The 27-year-old in his third MLB season has become a top arm in the rotation for the first place Twins.
