The Dodgers go for the series split against the Cardinals with their ace Clayton Kershaw (6-3, 2.52 ERA) on the mound for the 11:15 AM PT start. St. Louis counters with struggling ace Jack Flaherty (3-4, 5.24 ERA). The big story on the lineup card is no Mookie Betts, who is getting a day off one night after being screwed by the home plate umpire.
Here’s a look at the Mookie-less lineup Dave Roberts is sending out against the Cards.
With Mookie on the bench, David Peralta slides up to the lead off spot. Will Smith returns to the lineup, batting third and catching Kershaw. James Outman also returns to the starting lineup, batting sixth and patrolling center field. Jason Heyward starts for Mookie in right and Miguel Rojas is at shortstop.
Full Lineups, Betting Odds and More Stats
Clayton Kershaw looks to put his last start behind him and give the Dodgers some length today. He’s making his 21st career start against the Cardinals, having gone 10-5 with a 2.81 ERA in his previous regular season matchups. He’s 3-3 with a 3.78 ERA at Busch Stadium.
Jack Flaherty hasn’t been as bad as his ERA dictates. He gave up 10 runs in a start against the Angels a few weeks ago and has otherwise been slightly above his career norms. He makes his seventh career start against LA today, with a 1-2 record and 2.34 ERA in past meetings.
