Something happens to skiers as soon as the sun starts shining and the air gets warmer. We don’t stop skiing. No, we just start skiing with significantly less clothing.
Watch as bare chested French skier Solan Dejouy attempts to gain enough speed to ski across a wide river in the spring sunshine:
Good thing he made it. That water looked mighty cold.
Here’s an ignorant question I have as somebody who has never pond skimmed before- what do you do if you fall in the water?
Do you spend the rest of the day soaking wet? Am I lame for even asking?
I like spring skiing as much as the next guy, but being outside in 50-60 degree temps while being soaked in near-freezing water doesn’t sound like it would be too pleasant.
Thankfully, Dejouy didn’t have to find out considering he skimmed perfectly across the 59 meter river gap. That’s 193.57 feet in case you were wondering.
