Gujarat Titans (GT) are all set to take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Qualifier 1 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. CSK had won 4 matches out of 7 at the venue. It won’t be wrong to say that the surface is quite unpredictable as we have seen rank turners as well as belters.
GT have an edge over CSK as in the opening fixture of IPL 2023, the defending champions were quite ruthless. The peculiarity of GT is that they have got a lot of pinch hitters present in the form of Rahul Tewatia, Abhinav Manohar & David Miller who can decimate the opposition.

GT skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss & opted to bowl first against Chennai Super Kings. Hardik was quite sure that dew would come into action later in the game. Hardik Pandya pointed out that the side can’t relax despite getting into the top 2. GT made one change as Darshan Nalkande replaced Yash Dayal.
“We will bowl first. We heard dew will come, so we want to know what exactly to chase down. We were told to relax after getting into the top-2, but we didn’t want, want to stay focussed and play good cricket. We are a smart team, we don’t play only one way, we make sure to get the best out of the wicket and have adapted. Darshan Nalkande comes in place of Yash Dayal,” said Hardik Pandya.

Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni too wanted to bowl first and said that GT are an excellent chasing side. MS Dhoni emphasized the fact that it’s important for the team to back their strengths. MS Dhoni took a unique stance and said that there is a breeze around which would neglect the effect of dew.
“We wanted to bowl first, reason being they’re an excellent chasing side. We’ve exploited the conditions slightly better, in a tournament like this, the boys have adapted really well. It’s important to back your straengths, the confidence level should be high. They’ve been able to do that and that’s why we have done well. There was a lot of dew in the last game, but with breeze around, we can’t say about it tonight, but it does look dry. We’re playing the same team,” said MS Dhoni.
